İstanu is a “dream brand” born from the ancient friendship between an art-loving entrepreneurial mind and a talent-wielding artist. The partnership of their dreams arises from an endless love for nature.
The kimonos they define as symbols of elegance—of embracing and showing respect—transform into garments where the richness nature creates within their souls is dyed onto fabrics and wrapped around the body. Thus, despite their longing to merge with nature, the duo adds “kimono art” as a new path to their journey and opens this art to sharing.
The name of this sharing becomes İstanu, one of the sun goddesses appearing as a nature cult in the mythologies of many cultures— and the story of the brand begins…
DESIGNER
In 1992, the designer graduated first in class from Mimar Sinan University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Performing Arts, majoring in Stage Design and Costume Design. In the same year, they passed the examination held by the Mersin State Opera and Ballet Directorate and began working as a set designer. To date, the artist has contributed to the set, costume, and poster designs of over one hundred productions.
